She was the first woman officer in Greater Manchester to be killed in the line of duty.
Although she was an avid swimmer since age 4 and even qualified for Hong Kong's Oly Alison Armitage was born February 26, 1965, in London, England, but was raised in Hong Kong after her family -- consisting of her 2 brothers and her father her parents are divorced -- relocated there when she was a mere 6 years old.
Pc Armitage was working undercover in Oldham when she was killed by Whaley on March 5, 2001.
Whaley later claimed he had not seen the officer, despite driving backwards and forwards over her body in his bid to escape justice.
Armitage became a competitive swimmer at age four and qualified for the Olympic team representing Hong Kong.
He told the Manchester Evening News Whaley had 'put my family through living hell, but it's nothing compared to what Pc Armitage's parents have been through'.
